its all happening

i wish i had more time to blog about our big day yesterday, moreover i wish i had more pictures to blog from our big day yesterday but long story short cause i forgot my camera and cause i'm runnin around cleaning and prepping over here- we got a car yesterday! we are now proud VW drivers, which is pretty much a lifelong dream fulfilled for me, i realized this morning. its in the driveway, i keep looking out on it, i said it's going to feel like christmas morning every morning for a long while. i also said merry christmas since we got it exactly a month to the day. rye and i are re-learning the stick, and its even somehow way more fun than i remember it being. probably has something to do with the fact that the person in shotgun is my beloved and not my mom. ANYhooters its blue and smooth and i drove it to get groceries this morning and jenn asked if i felt like an adult and i DID. also i was glad i could buy more than 2 heavy things. but yes, we skoners (thats my new word i just made up right now) are making RESPONSIBLE ADULT DECISIONS. responsible FUN adult decisions.
awww its really so beauty so, pictures to follow.
now in all this excitement and mishegoss i gotta get packing for this weekend SARAH AND SCOTT ARE GETTING MARRIED. not sure if you heard.
oh ya and

obvs. <3.

crazy adventures

tonight we're taking an overnight road trip to timmins, gonna try it and see how it works as an option for the multitude of truckin we've been doing and will be doing there lately. also we're both maybe dreading it since it feels like we just got back from the last trip- probs cause we did- so we moped around all day. well, rye took care of some business and i did some hut slut stuff, amidst moping. anyway right now he's resting up, i tried to nap earlier but i am incapable of falling back asleep once im upandattem, its annoying. so i'm drinking holiday tea in hockey pants and mapping out the busy week ahead, anticipating MY BEST FRIENDS WEDDING THIS WEEKEND and all that comes in that basket of love and joy and kittens and yarn balls.

this song is having its way with me tonight

only version i could find that doesn't have annoying girls screaming in the background

highlid in effect
and my lips are super pink cause ive been drinking this pomegranate rock star shit when we take the long trips. its CRAZAY sugary, i can't drink the whole can. its the only time i ever partake in energy drinks, i'm not even sure if they help or not. sold?

i also wish i took pictures on our hippie saturday in thunder bay. it was pretty awesome- rye wrote about it here.

partridge stew pie, i made this tonight. actually ryan and tenderflake made this but i assembled it and cooked it and tasted it and enjoyed it.

k later!

everybody wine chung tonight

2nd wine delivery came today! and by today i mean last week!

i just can't get over what a good (generous thoughtful FUN) idea this gift is. i am not a wine connoisseur by any means- here's what i know about wine: i like red and especially if it costs $9.95- BUT i do enjoy the stuff. maybe kinda a lot. especially in winter, red wines' so warming. oh yeah i want to look up red wine drink recipes now. i'll drink white too but only when i have a real hankering to be pummeled violently in the head the next morning.
the j's also managed to choose my favourite brand of ontario wine- Henry of Pelham. bringing back fond fond summer memories of drinking on madeleine's deck and at the cottage with our man henry.

this one i'm most excited for.

first batch, from Colio Estates

and i've only cracked one bottle so far, 2007 shiraz/cab. smooth and rich with intoxicating hues of berries, pepper and sage brush. just kidding no idea, it is smooth and yummy tho, me like WINE MONSTER LIKE WINE

discovered on my camera about a hundred pictures i took of myself stoned the other night. i was digging my hair, i think. but MAN do i have one lazy eye when i get HYEEE so it was just 99 pictures of me looking like i got stung by a bee in the eye.

oh yeah then i tried to take a picture of my outfit which i was also very into. its fun being a girl sometimes.

this cupboard hereafter forever known as STEPHTASIA

byeeeee

mid-night confession

i thought this was a picture of stevie and a white horse all this time until 3 seconds ago. i get the bird connection but it would be way cooler if it was a horse, no?

turdsday

enjoy, funny shit. then search "literal version" in youtube, (there's a bunch) and file this under friday time killers for tomorrow too.

adam sandler misses you. xo

triple sow cow

hadn't been ice skating since i was about 14, but i used to go to public skating at the oakville rec centre a lot. i'd put so much thought into my skating outfit- it was always like a pleated denim skirt, knit tights probably pink or white, and some kind of wintery wool sweater, probably some colour-coordinating magic minis. bahaha. yesterday i was a little shakier when i first got on the ice than i thought i would be, we had the rink to ourselves and rye took me around on his arm once i let go of the boards, gaw my man, then i remembered i went skating on a lake in penetang a few years back which loosened me up some more. still don't think i'll be joining shinny any time soon, but my goal for the winter is to get all speedy and stealth out there. and eventually earn my own cool sport skates. anyway it was really fun, plus pretty romantic.

came off the ice for some fine grub at the rec diner/lakeview cafe/our new favourite place. this is a rec special and i love it, crave it almost daily, or i start to the second someone mentions the rec. it is essentially a CHEESEBURGER SANDWICH. genius. and fucking delicious.
(food shots dedicated to raymi)

on a recommendation i got the super hot dog. (is that what it was called rye?) we were kinda lit up. cheese and bacon and fried onions. chyeah. we also shared a poutine, cause that's what you do at an arena.

"northwestern ontario exercise"

after we stopped at home to do the beerfridge boogie we headed down to the lake for some fishin in the dark

here you go honey
chatted between docks over the water while we cast the sun down...and i saw an OTTER!! which was on my list of animals i had yet to see, and it was so friggin cute. it was also really dark and he must have been right at my feet because all of a sudden i saw this little head swimming away from me in the water...rye says i must be at peace with the otters because my voice didn't cause him to attack. bahahahaa. SO cool!
this post is dedicated to the best day, to this great town, and to my most favourite person. miss you already.
and to moose sausages.
oh shit and to all our veterans.

spoiled silly

i'm feeling extremely spoiled today. rye stayed home from work and i made the coffee really strong on accident and now we're buzzing like crazy, he's in the kitchen right now singing songs that sound like songs he wrote cause he can make anything sound brilliant. its true, its one of his many gifts. he also announced WE ARE GOING TO HAVE AN ACTIVE AFTERNOON because its extremely sunny out and we're all hopped up and stuff so i think in a few we're gonna go ice skating and/or fishing. any day off together is a great day. also right now he is singing me a sloan medley. spoiled.

also yesterday i went to the post office and one of those package slips was in our box with my name on it and i lugged home a box that turned out to have 6 bottles of red wine in it. !!! a thank you gift for dj-ing jenn & jer's wedding last month. i figured they knew the time had at that wedding was payment enough but i guess not! and there are 5 more bottles and 1 champagne still on their way from another vineyard! what an awesome gift. spoiled.
jer: well we just thought, what does steph really like? getting drunk. and it went from there.
hahahaha

ALSO in my inbox this morning was a late birthday gift (aren't those the BEST) from the j's, a gift card for anthropologie!!!!! what. a. treat. i don't shop there very often (who can) but every time we go to new york sarah and i have to hit up the huge one on 5th:

and we always have to buy something. who doesn't. christmas cards, housewares, jewelry, generally i just cannot resist their sweaters, my best sweaters are from there, and this time will be no different. i got the email an hour ago and i already know what i want. spoiled!

can you tell how hyper i am right now

ALSO WE ARE GETTING LUNCH AT THE REC!!! im gonna bring my camera and take a picture of the rec special. omg.
HAVE A GOOD DAY :)
p.s megan you are so great!

sixty-minute man

i'm positive if i searched the words bull durham in my blog i'd find old posts about it. jhc i love this movie! and its been on nonstop for days since the world series started AND we have it on tape cause ryan taped it for me before he left because he's romantic like that.
youtuuuuuuuuuuuuube when you come through you really come through. this is the best part of the whole movie. just watch it and try and not find kev-bo totally babely. the best part starts at around 2:44 but the beginning really doesn't hurt either.

hahaha no i'm not missing my boyfriend.

ive actually been accomplishing things away from screens today, btw.
but tv sounds keep me company. xo.

observations from the couch

rendition is an intense movie. intensity in ten cities. at the beginning of it i thought, hey maybe after this movie i won't hate jake gyllenhaal anymore, after the whole brokeback mountain fiasco. but i'm still like meh. he's not a very convincing tough guy. also, reese witherspoon was pointless. if they'd picked a less well known american (canadian) actress like they did for the other half of the cast i wouldn't have been so distracted waiting for her to do something impressive.

sometimes i really enjoy watching wife swap.

i love julia roberts. i know some people who positively hate her which is so funny, but i love her, i have ever since pretty woman and i always will. if there's a julia roberts movie on i always have to watch it. even stepmom. erin brokovich i've seen SO many freakin times. runaway bride- yep seriously. i wanna watch notting hill right now.

happy halloween hangover day, all.
