tiny snow

its snowing tiny snowflakes this morning. it occurs to me that there was a time i may have lost a little shit over this, but up here i'm totally diggin it. and its because of course, i'm different now.
i've found myself in nostalgia overdrive lately, in a good way, like when we got back from our trip our place smelled like when we first moved in, i think its the cold im not sure but anyway its got me all swoony. smells are kinda fucked up that way eh, how easily they can evoke memories. and its snowing in my gmail and that's all reminding me of last winter too, talking to rye, aw man.
ANYWAY, about our road trip, lets get to it

where did we leave off, oh yes sudbury. from timmins we headed south towards orillia, making a stop in sudbury to crash at ryan's sisters place for a night. OH sudbury. the only other time i'd ever been there was on a grade 6 class trip and peter wildbore barfed on the bus and that's pretty much the only thing i remember.

so we had a gps for this trip which was pretty invaluable about 60% of the time. sometimes annoying, thanks for the scenic routes but no thanks. and sometimes downright useless, like when its pissing rain when you arrive in sudbury and you can't see shit anyway and the gps is driving you to turn right in 10 seconds to nowhere, cause you find out that sudbury has NO street signs. weeeee! just tell us the way to red lobster alright.

but in the end we managed, found rye's sis' place and then made our way to Peddler's Pub for some good live music and good drinks and good times, and to wait for a cab for 2 hours after the bar closed. sometimes being loud and obnoxious fake mad drunk is funny and fun.

perkins breakfast!

then a trip to science north. we were pretty pumped to go, then sister bear says "oh ya science north i take this kid i know with autism there" then i didn't laugh inappropriately, and then we went anyway and it was still pretty cool. the floor with the animals was definitely the coolest, and the saddest. something just wasn't right there to me, seeing kids petting a skunk after i just saw it pacing in its pen back and forth, and the beaver totally wanted me and ryan to rescue it- i just hate zoos for this reason. animals in captivity makes me sad.

the butterfly room was really cool, they were just flyin around loose in there and you had to check for "hitchhikers" in a big mirror before you left. cute.

smell ya later suds!

with another day before we were due in orillia we decided to pull over in parry sound for the night. there's this cool thing about me and rye that's been present since the start- things just have a habit of making way, or working out for us how we want it to. like in a timely way. kinda hard to explain. but so we're driving into parry sound and we're like, all we want is a cheap hotel with a sports bar so we can watch the hockey game and then get to our room easy from there. a moment later on the right we find don cherry attached to best rates and we were stoked. the little things right?

later after i passed out rye followed the sounds of beer and pearl jam like a beacon in the night to party with some locals downstairs. i just think its cute i found this picture on my camera.

bobby orr museum was closed :( so we did a little shopping and headed back out on the road to orillia.

and that you already know about

i took a little side trip down to toronto during our week at the casino for some errands, visits and some pre-wedding festivities with miss j. or should i say mrs!
i may burn in a toronto sewer for saying this (ya right you'll never catch me!) but sneaky dee's nachos are gross. barf nachos. who wants to eat WET chips, like honestly.

bit of a picture gap here, but basically all you need to know is between orillia and belleville ryan went to the bass pro shop/outdoor world for the first time. and we bought a new fish pillow, a rainbow trout, and now the pickerel and the trout are having fish sex all the time.

arrived in belleville to a historical maybe haunted b&b (people's clothes kept going missing it was weird) then picked up this little cowlick to get her hair done for her wedding day!

now she's still on her honeymoon and i don't feel right blogging her wedding before she's even seen any pictures from it herself, so i'm gonna save the wedding for its own post. it was THE LOVELIEST country wedding in the history of time though, i can tell you that.
oh what the hell a little preview couldn't hurt

OHHH ok one more

kk one last one just cause rye's so handsome...

aw. anyway then after the wedding it was a stop back through toronto for thanksgiving with my fam, then driving through a snowstorm on the way home monday, to fiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiinally arrive back at our sweet home late that night. it was a great trip, a lot of fun and i'm so grateful and lucky to be with someone as amazing as ryan. the sweet feeling of being home together is so palpable, really. and i'm so close, so in love with this person, and it really truly feels like home here. home with him. when i look at him i can see the future. its pretty incredible. in case you were wondering.

hipster eh. it's more like we have all these bush clothes for warmth and every now and then bush comes into style and guys might have beards to keep the wind off their faces but not ironic beards, my point is we're only cool like 1 in every 5 years, whenever white trash comes back in style.

last pic, the pants, the stance, the plaid. hipster jeans or good occasion jeans?

not unless hipsters are shopping at bass pro nowadays...

eh clearly i'm just defensive about the word hipster. its just so... american apparel to me. bleh.

(and thanks kz)

i'll clear up the hipster debate in one comment. the origin of the word goes back to the beats like kerouac and his crew, popularized in ginsberg's poem "howl", angel-headed hipsters. those guys were prolific, they produced and lived it.

then other irrelevant generations like ours wanted to be associated with it, the cool carefree life, marketing teams realized it. so i'm saying our generation doesn't deserve the word, it's too good a word in its original sense to apply to lazy middle class whiteboys who don't DO anything, right? it's just a marketing parameter with which to sell designer headphones to jaded faces, a game where the stores are winning way more than the people are.

however though the hipsters who do something cool then yeah it's fair enough to call them hip, to liken them to the mythologized beats, to notice that they're carrying on that tradition. to me, "don't call me a hipster" is like saying "don't call anyone a hipster", this generation needs a more accurate word like "coddled".

my ex's dad runs at a real estate appraisal place in Sudbury and two years ago the city hired him to appraise the water tower since it's not in use anymore.

turns out that the place is so worthless and sketchy that the city decided to leave it up because it's not fiscally worthwhile to pay the money to tear it down.

sweet.

your dress is dreamy!
