greetings from timmins. or should i say bonjour from timmins. yeehaw from timmins? i dunno but we're definitely in shania country here and fuck if i can't get any man of mine out of my head this morning. bek, sarah- remember cruisin around in the jeep crankin who's bed have your boots been under? those were the fuckin days eh.
anyway we're here for the next 2 days on business- ryan being on actual business, in various meetings and such and me being in the business of assisting/driving/secretarying/back rubbing and travel blogging on small town ontario. its frickin FUN. yesterday i started to imagine i actually maybe looked like a reporter or something, walkin around town with my laptop and camera. so here's an interlude from the road trip story with my special report from chapleau yesterday...rolled into town about 9 and checked into this adorable little cottage motel
drove rye to his meeting the next morning, checked us out around noon and hit the town for lunch
coffee, a book and a hot beef sandwich from Gus(I?)s Family Restaurant and Steakhouse. lots of french speakers in chapleau, and i could barely understand anyone's english through their accents, but i did decipher from the waitress an advisement that people drink lots in timmins. thanks tips.
sauna hair- we took a sauna the night before and i was feelin my wacky leftover shag yesterday. btw in north country sauna's are huge. my skin's gonna thank me ten-fold for moving up here, no doubt.
yup that's pretty grumpy alright.
scored some free internet (andacrapper) at the local library for a bit
see look how important i look
it was a BEAUTIFUL beautiful day. welcome welcome spring.
honestly, i don't mean to gloat or brag, but this is the fucking life. i DO need to settle in and start writing more than just blogging, but being up here amoungst all this air and newness, all this love and landscape, and yes luxury and yes luck, i'm just infinitely happy in a way i can't put into words.
i feel free.free and complete. one of two. here. in the right place.
upon arrival in timmins last night we decided we needed red meat and headed to cedar meadows where the buffalo roam while you eat them. except the buffalo weren't roaming just yet in the season, so ryan ordered us delicious steaks instead and we brought a bison burger home to have later, which he is presently trying to convince me via blackberry to eat for lunch today.
fancy digs, charming atmosphere, we looked into each other's eyes a lot (in between periods). i'm not alone in feeling that a man who takes you out for a steak dinner is the ultimate in romantic, right? as in yes i put out for meat.
sigh. thank you my man.
so the plan today is to chill out in the hotel room for a bit, pimpin on the top floor check it-and then go for a stroll around the timmins metropolis. i am totally salivating over the value village across the street- new city, new junkware possibilities. OR, alternatively, i could skid out in the hotel all the live long day until its time to pick up the boss. like its already 1:30 when did that happen? and then tonight its all about catchin a playoff game and a buzz, and maybe that seth rogan movie too. eilleen out.
